Following last year's Council meetings, a Logo Competition was announced in last August's Gazette . Entries closed on 31st October and it was left to the Steering Committee to act as a judging panel, that Committee being well known for its artistic acumen.
Eighteen entries were received of which twelve were submitted by the same person. After much discussion and debate, the Steering Committee is delighted to announce that the prize of $100 be awarded to Mr Frank G. Polanco ( Department of Mathematics, RMIT ). Mr Polanco's winning entry is featured on the facing page. It is interesting to note that Mr Polanco also designed the winning entry for the ANZIAM logo now being used by that Division of the Society. So Frank is to be congratulated on a remarkable double.
Because of her contribution of twelve separate entries, Steering Committee also decided to award a consolation prize of $50 to Ms Helen Chick ( Department of Mathematics, The University of Tasmania ). Thank you Helen for the time and effort you put into this.
Council has now officially adopted Frank's design as the
